Colin Dexter
Colin Dexter (1930–2017) was an English crime writer best known for creating Inspector Morse. Born in Stamford, Lincolnshire, he studied at Cambridge, taught school, and worked in Oxford before writing The Dead of Jericho—the fifth Inspector Morse mystery published in 1981.
